Hi Karters, friends and karting families,
Can you believe the month of April is now behind
us. We have seen the temperatures up and down the
scale. We are very thankful to all of you that
continue to come and support your local track. We
know times are rough and we also know that having a
place to live, food to eat and money to pay your
bills are the most important things to take care
of. We are so blessed and grateful to be able to
have you karters here with us. Because of your
dedication, we are still able to keep going -
hopefully our season will get better. I know that
we still have some new people planning on coming and
some of our classes will be getting bigger.
We only had one rain out in April, which was great.
Having to make calls concerning the weather, is not
an easy job. I wait day by day to see what the
weather is going to be like and then I make my
call. Hopefully we will not have many of them this
year.
I am so excited about our Kid Kart Champ Class. It
is really growing. Soon we hope that we will have
7-8 in it. The racing has been good in this class.
Tanner Cook, Garrett Reynolds have been in control,
but we have David Steigler III, Nicholas Reynolds
right there with them. I know their win is just
around the corner. We want to thank TNT Security
LLC for sponsoring this class.
Our Rookie Champ Class has dropped off a few, but is
still a great class to watch. Every week Cori
French, David Stone and Ryan Clement are leading the
pack. Never know who it will be. Cori French has
taken the lead at every race so far for the month of
April, but her competitors are knocking at her
door. We'll see if she can hold her ground through
the month of May. We also want to thank Beacon
Surplus and Rage Karts for sponsoring this class.
We started a Rookie Champ Class Novice this year.
This class is for beginners in the Rookie Champs. I
believe each one has won a race except for one,
but their day is coming. Their points are close. I
wonder who will be in the lead by the end on May:
Brian Coe, Jr., Tyler Cook, Samantha Raley or Allie
Switzer?
Austin Ousley is leading in our Junior Stock Animal
Class and Travis Weber in our Stock Lite Animal.
Thanks to Northern Virginia Kart Parts, LLC for
their sponsorship to our Stock Lite Class. Heading
up our Stock Heavy is Dale Portner.
David Hardman, Chris Switzer, Tim Hill, Tyler Hill
and Patrick Brooks, and Brett Clark has been doing a
great job in our Senior Animal Champ Class. It's
great seeing these young men come and be so
competitive. This is our first year of running the
Animal Champs without restrictor plates and they are
fast and exciting to watch. We want to thank BDL
Motorsports for sponsoring this class.
Lets talk about our Bandolero Class. Last year we
had a total of four that came throughout the year
and they never showed up together. This year we
have had more Bandolero talk and we hope to have
more participants this year. The month of April,
we met the Causleys, Munleys, Collins and the
Rumburgs. How great is this. So let
keep encouraging others to come. We must have at
least 5 in a class in order to get your points for
Inex. So tell your friends and bring them down.
They are fun to watch and to see how the winner gets
up front on this 1/5 mile track. Wouldn't you like
to see at least 8 up here at one time? Boy would
I. Let's see if we can get to this goal this year.
Only you Bandolero guys can do it! It will be
as fun for you as it will be for us that are
watching!
This is a reminder of some things coming up in May.
May 23rd will be the first of three bike races for
this year. One requirement is that you must have a
bike helmet. Elbow and knee pads are up to you.
Two races ages 5-10 & 11-15. Hope you guy's are
ready for this! Fun, fun and more fun.
Also a reminder that starting June 6th thru
September, our gates will open at 4:00 p.m.
Practice will not be as long and we plan on racing
to start between 6:30-7:00 p.m.
And on June 6th, it will be our 1st 50 lapper for
our Rookie Champ Class. This does not include our
Rookie Champ Novice Class. They will be racing
their own race in October. By that time they will
have had a lot of experience.
I mentioned earlier that we are planning on having a
"Bud Shoot Out" for our Rookie Champ Class starting
in 2010. Well, I realized that some of our Rookie
Champs will be able to move up to the Junior Champ
Class and this will require them to be in a larger
champ kart, so I decided to do this race on December
5, 2009 The gates will open at 10:00 a.m. and we
will plan on racing by 12:00 p.m. I am happy to
announce that our 1st karter to be able to enter the
"Bud Shoot Out" is Cori French. She has been the
leader so far for the month of April, so this
puts her in - Congratulations Cori!
Again we want to say "Thank you all" for coming and
supporting the King George Speedway. I feel that
all of you are my family and I love each and
everyone of you. I pray you have a great and
wonderful week and that God will be your guide.
If you have not been down to race with us here at
the King George Speedway, please let this be an
invite for you to come and be a part of our racing
family.
See you!
