2010 Track Handbook

General Track Rules

What the gate time is will be the ONLY TIME that you may enter the track. There will be NO ONE allowed through gate or in the pit area until Open time. No one at anytime is allowed on the track except for racers and while under track officials unless okay by Promoter racing. No one at all allowed in or to come up to flag stand once the racing has begun.

The competition rules herein were developed during post-season planning sessions and are subject to adjustment as necessary prior to and during the racing season. Changes made during the racing season will be deemed as being in the best Interest of its members.

Kart competition is a sport and its purpose is to provide fun and enjoyment for the entire family. The rules and regulations herein are written in a simple manner so that the participant can easily understand them and complete legally. King George Speedway makes no pretense of having designed a foolproof set of rules and regulations. The following will, however, provide a good basis for competition. The spirit and intent of these rules shall always ultimately control. These rules are silent, WKA rules will prevail.

Important: Competitive kart racing may result in injury and or death to the participant, no expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from publication of or compliance with these rules and or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants, spectators, or others.

Eligibility:

All membership granted during the year will expire on January 1, 2011

All persons entering the pit area on the day of an event will be required to purchase a pit pass, and drivers will be required to register and pay the entry fee before going on the track In a kart. All karts are required to pass a pre-race technical inspection prior to entering onto the track.

Schedule of Fees:

Annual Membership: $25.00 - Prior to or at 1st Points Race

Pit Passes: $10.00 each person - 3yrs and older (2yrs. And under are free but MUST sign in and received and arm band)

Driver Registration: Member $25.00, additional classes $25.00, Non-member $40.00 additional classes entered is $30.00

There will be no refunds of fees. The returned check fee is $45.00 with promoter option of requesting cash ONLY. The King George Speedway, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to refuse or revoke membership and participation privileges from anyone, and to change the schedule of costs, schedule of events, and competition rules as needed in the best interests of its track.

Conduct And Appearance:

Foul or abusive language will not be tolerated for any reason may be subject to being banned. Any track official approached in a hostile unsportsmanlike manner will get you and or your driver suspended and disqualified. Drivers shall be responsible for the conduct and language of their pit crew and guest at all times. Shoes and shirts are required of all persons while in restricted areas.

Intent to Defraud:

Any competitor who would falsify his/her age, modify his/her equipment with the intent to complete illegally in a respective class, or has the intent to defraud the King George Speedway or another competitor by such modifications or actions, is subject to being banned and lose any points and awards upon review of all evidence.

Drivers Weight and Weigh-In:

Driver is responsible for his/her weight check BEFORE AND AFTER the race. A mandatory weigh-in will be conducted at the conclusion of each time, heat, and feature. If entrant loses any part of his/her equipment during the race, he/she will be weighed without that part. Except as otherwise approved by a race official, any competitor failing to proceed directly to the scales or proceeding past the scales after time trails or heat race without weighing in must start at the rear of the field for the feature. Any competitor failing to do so after the feature race will be disqualified.

Parents Note:

So please parents remember their just kids/children having fun don’t ruin it for them Track must have a copy of Birth Certificate at time of registration 1st race for everyone young & old no limits If you move up a class you will not be allowed to move back down unless you run both every week.

Line-Ups

The race day lineup will be in the order the Speedway presents them there will be NO CHANGES to the lineups will be FINAL if your running 2 classes we will give you time so don’t worry.

Tech:

WKA Rues enforced (Except) - No tire rule Track Tech Man has all say and Final say on any Problem

If you are found illegal on anything you will be disqualified for that night and loose all points up to that particular night.

Track Promoter also will have power to tech any class anytime!

Staging Area:

Staging area is for karts to line up for the race and race Only, there can be no work area or parking of karts in this area. This is for your safety.

Safety Equipment:

Safety equipment such as helmet, neck brace, chest protector’s and driver apparel are required. Refer to 2010 WKA Technical Manual, General Regulations for specifications. All safety equipment is subject to pre-race tech inspection, and is subject to re-inspection at any time. Safety is everybody’s responsibility. Make sure your equipment is safe, and up-to-code.

Flag Rules:

The flag signals of the King George Speedway Flagman will be obeyed without question. Refer the 2010 WKA Technical Manual. At the flagman discretion, if the lead kart cannot be slowed down to what he thinks is a reasonable green flag start, the class will be stopped and flagged from a dead stop from flag stand.

Qualifying:

Heat races or time trails will be used to determine the qualifying field for the feature event. The starting order for the heat races will be determined by random drawing of pills/or by the King George Speedway timing system only.

Competition Rules:

Rules will be executed under the interpretation of the Race Officials.

Racing Procedures:

The Flagman will start the race at the starting line and finish flagging at the start/finish line. At the end of heat and feature, proceed directly to the scales and to tech if so directed by officials.

ANY DRIVER CAUSING A CAUTION WILL RESTART AT THE END OF THE FIELD. DRIVERS INADVERTENTLY INVOLVED WILL RESTART IN THEIR POSTED POSITION ON THE LAST SCORED LAP

Misc./ General Track Rules

  • Competitors and crews are required to be fully conversant in the King George Speedway and WKA rules, too. The King George Speedway may override WKA rules. Any issues not covered in the King George Speedway rules will refer to the WKA Technical Manual.
  • It is the responsibility of members to present a valid King George Speedway membership card upon request at each KGS event.
  • King George Speedway Officials at any event have the right to prevent anyone from participating due to an infraction of the rules.
  • A mandatory driver’s meeting will be held prior to each racing event. There will be no motors running during the meeting.
  • ALL FIRST TIME KART competitors shall place a large "X" on the back of their helmets for their first four practices and races here at The King George Speedway.
  • All Jr. Restricted Rookie, Junior, and Senior Champs, must have their kart numbers on a white number panel with black numbers on the right & left sides of the roll cage and one on the back of the drivers seat. Must be fastened down so it is readable for scoring.
  • Karts must be lined up on the grid prior to qualifying. All competitors not present when their class is qualifying will start the feature from the rear of the field.

Track Preparation and Clean Up:

A mandatory driver’s meeting will be held after practice. Qualifying/or heats will begin directly after the driver’s meeting with features to follow. Each driver is responsible for seeing that his/her pit area is cleaned up following up the event. All trash is to be removed and put in the trash cans located around the track. Each team is expected to clean their pit area Before leaving the track.

Pushing or Lifting Karts with Engine Running Prohibited:

Karts shall not be pushed or lifted while engine is running, on pre-grid, grid, or scales. No spinning of tires on pre-grid or grid. Such actions are subject to disqualification or being moved to the rear of the field.

Crossing the Racing Surface While Vehicles are on the Track is Not Allowed!

All injuries must be reported to the Track Promoter. It is the option of EMT and Race Director to expel that competitor from the racing event. Any competitor needing attention during the race must be cleared by the EMT and the Promoter to re-enter an event.

All pit crew members and spectators must stay behind the wall or behind the grid.

NO STANDING IN FRONT OF GRID OR ON THE JERSEY WALLS WHILE RACES ARE GOING ON. NO STANDING ON JERSEY WALLS ALLOWED AT ANY TIME

Track Officials:

Shall include the following positions with their stated responsibilities. The Track Promoters are in charge of and have the responsibility to carry out their own duties and authorities in an effort to provide everyone present with a safe and equally competitive racing environment. Anyone failing to heed their direction shall be subject to action. He/she maybe removed from the track for a period or banned by the sole discretion of the King George Speedway Promoters.

 

Scorer:

Will be in charge of timing and scoring. Any questions and or concerns may be brought up to Promoters Only

Flagman:

Will have complete charge of the karts while on the track. His flag signals are to be obeyed without exception. The flagman and/or Promoter shall conduct a driver’s meeting for competitors to explain the flags and other pertinent information concerning the event, when and if it is necessary.

General Notes:

All Classes are welcome to run here at King George we will be going by WKA Tech Rules for all classes we will run any class anyone would like to have or start at King George and same classes as last years all Bandoleer’s welcome every week. This is a family oriented track and we will keep as that any other track would.

The following rules apply to all drivers, spectators, moms, dads, families, etc. No cursing or hollering at anytime. No fighting. Aggressive or any misc. behavior from a sportsman like conduct to Any Track Official at anytime NO going into the Flag stand at anytime. Any problems will be directed to Bryan Thomas in a professional manner after the races (all classes), any violent acts or ect. Will be banned from Track for as long as Bryan & Trisha Thomas Promote King George Speedway. If you are Banned for any reason you will automically lose all your points up to that date & receive no awards.

Racing Notes:

Gates Open every Saturday @ 2:00 p.m.
NO-ONE Allowed into pits Until this Time!
Practice starts @ 4:00 p.m.

There will be one 10 lap practice for each class, Heat races will follow 10 laps unless noted, 20 warm-up laps only at start of races.

If on Saturday rain out we will race the following Sunday.

Gates open at 12:00

Practice at 2:00

When we get all heat races in the books and it rains it will be counted as a show if any features start they will be counted and remained. Classes fall back on heat race finish. Their will be no Refunds and or credits, everything is final. No Refunds will be given for racing or entering the pits everyone must enter with purchase of a pit pass and wear a pit band at All times.
